The level begin with a scenery: Lara is traveling with her Peruvian companion. She opens a cave and sees that her companion has been eaten by wolves. When Lara enters the tomb the door behind her closes. It is a dark place with wolves, bats, bears, doors and many more. Lara has to find her way to the exit in this Peruvian maze.

01.01 - Poison arrows/darts[]
The rockets reminds me of the poison arrows from Indiana Jones’s “Raiders of the Lost Ark” in the Golden Idol scene. Indiana Jones walks to a golden idol, replace it for a bag of sand and runs away.. In his way out of the temple he runs faster than the arrows can hit him.
01.02 - Tzompantli / Skull rack[]
It is a reference to the Tzompantli or skull rack, killed enemies or volunteers. An example is Huey Tzompantli or Great Tzompantli in Tenochtitlan in Mexico.
01.03 - Aztec Calendar[]
It is called the Aztec sun stone.
After the Spanish conquest it was buried in the central square of Mexico City. It was rediscovered in 1790 and is one of the most famous objects of the Aztec empire. In short it is a calendar with rings, the main figure is a god Tonatiuh, and lists of the Aztec months. More information about the iconography can be found here.
01.04 - Creepy mummy[]
It is a mummy of Bolivia.
01.05 - Stone stele[]
This depicts Chalchiuhtlicue, goddess of water flowing from springs. The stele is found in the Aztec (Mexica) Gallery, INAH, National Museum of Anthropology, Mexico City.

It represents a Mesoamaerican god. It could be Zotz, a bat god, with the teeth.
